Match.com has a long, in-depth physical attraction test targeting what features you find most attractive in a sexual partner.
According to the test, I prefer handsome blond men, which means my "type" is -- in a chicken-or-egg-type query -- the boy I'm dating.
Posted by nchicha at February 24, 2004 06:49 PMIf the real-life database matches they emailed me after I finished the test are any indication, I fall in the small subset of respondents who prefer aliens.
Posted by: Es on February 24, 2004 10:31 PMThe quiz is an interesting exercise in pop psych and Skinner-box compulsion, but its results are self-evident enough to remind the of the old SubGenius slogan, "You'd pay to know what you really think!"

Posted by: on February 25, 2004 02:45 PMThe CGI tricks really freaked me out. It was so weird to see the same composite as a different race, or with totally different hair. Since all the models were computer-generated, I don't think it's really all that valid. There's no accounting for all those little, animated, unique features real people possesss. I think, at best, it just shows what you prefer in a general way, or maybe eliminates characteristics you couldn't go for at all, in a general way.
Prentiss: good reference.
Posted by: Nathalie Chicha on February 25, 2004 11:50 PMCharles, were they computer generated? They looked real to me. And I didn't see the cross-race composites you're talking about. Did we see the same quiz?
