A friend recently wrote me,
I just noticed your Nell Freudenberger links. Believe it or not, Nell was my first crush. Her parents were friends of the family. Nell is my sister's age and they had another daughter my age so we spent a lot of time together. By the time I was five I was completely infatuated with Nell. We lost touch with the Freudenbergers ten years ago or so. Seeing her picture in the New Yorker totally tripped me out, caused me to reminisce on my childhood, and ultimately depressed me.
