america’s next top coddleI’ve mentioned before my difficulty in categorizing blogs — the “journal” category, in particular. Andrea Seigel’s blog, Afternoon in Drama, calls itself a journal but has better TV commentary than most media-only blogs. A great example: Andrea’s recent entry on “America’s Next Top Model.” It begins,
While Paradise Hotel was clearly the greatest show of summer 2003, I am prepared to go on record stating that America’s Next Top Model is the greatest show of all of 2004. Under the guise of picking a “top model,” Tyra Banks instead casts sort of average-pretty girls with deep character flaws and then aids in their psychological destruction by putting herself in the role of abusive mother.At the post’s end, Andrea launches into a casual dialectic-of-the-zeitgeist and predicts our culture’s about to enter (notice that, again, I’m ahead of the times) an “age of awkwardness.”
Curious: how would you categorize your blog if you are so intent on categorizing others? advise, please.
